PhotoImporter is growing up

Thanks to Thomas, I now have the toolbox complete to finish up the PhotoImporter for the first public 1.0 Version. Thomas wrote a tiny little .NET component for easily registering AutoPlay-Applications on Windows. Today I integrated this with the current version of PhotoImporter and made a test setup. Everything looks fine for now so I am going to make the last finishing works for the 1.0 Version.

Adding folders to ignored resources in using Subversive

For version control I am using Eclipse with the Subversive client (a Team Provider for Eclipse). If you want to add Visual Studio projects to version control it is a good idea to exclude the default binary folders (named “bin” and “obj”). Today I ran into a strange behaviour on achieving this.

I don’t know how this exactly works with the CVS Team Provider for Eclipse. When you want to add folders to the global “ignored resources” list using the SVN Team Provider, just add a pattern for the folder without any wildcards (e.g. if you want to exclude all “/bin/”-folders add a pattern for “bin”).

After that you must restart Eclipse for the changes to take effect. Patterns created like described above only apply on folder names, for example a file named “bin.txt” would be added to version control.

First public Release of PhotoImporter

Download PackagePhotoImporter is a small tool for importing digital photos from memory cards to the local hard disc. During the import PhotoImporter groups the photos in days (so called PhotoDays) and asks the user for descriptions of that days. That’s it, not more not less :-) Your critics and comments to the tool are most welcome…

Cool Tool: Copy Source As HTML

ToolsWhen I was trying to post some source code in wordpress (or any other publishing system with browser based rich-editors) I ran into serious problems with formatting of the code. The worst case was that the code was so fractioned by the editor that the layout of the blog was totally broken.

After a little search in the web I found a cool tool for Visual Studio Developers: CopySourceAsHtml (CSAH)! With this Add-On available for both Visual Studio 2003 & 2005 you can grab the code directly from within the Visual Studio editor and paste it as HTML into the source code view of your blog editor.

The Add-On has several config options to make it suite your needs. For me this is the best (and most stable) solution for publishing my source code snippets on the web. Maybe you have a better one? Tell me in your comments…

You can get the tool here:

First Screenshots of my new tool: PhotoImporter

Speedesign Photo ImporterAfter some days of trouble getting the application running on Windows Vista, here are the first preview Screenshots of my new tool “PhotoImporter”. This tool is intended to import any photos on a memory card when it is inserted in the card reader.

Version Control at it’s best

Subversion LogoSince few days I’ve been using the open source version control system Subversion. This tool is handeled as the successor of the most common Concurrent Versions System (CVS). Subversion has several advantages compared to CVS such as versioning of folders, custom properties on every object and the new Eclipse powered client Subversive which is also freely available.

Hi.

Lg, Claudia
